Two single seat sit inside kayaks available.
The kayaks are constructed from roto molded plastic and thus can be beached. That said, the boats should be carried, after landing, up the beach, and not dragged. Dragging the kayaks will result in abrasion damage leading to a breach in the hull, and loss of floatation. A handle on each end makes carrying the kayaks by two people straightforward. A stronger person can also carry the kayak, from the middle, by gripping the cockpit gunwale. Each kayak has a bowline.
The kayaks are well suited for protected areas such as Pulpit Harbor, Fresh Pond, and the Thoroughfare. For venturing into unprotected areas, it is recommended that one stay within swimming distance of the shoreline. Kayaking life jackets are provided and should be worn, not stowed. A dry bag can be provided along with a handheld VHF radio (charge if not returned). Items can be stored in an aft hatch, behind the seat, or forward. Whitecaps can breach the cockpit.
For your convenience, the kayaks can be dropped off and subsequently picked up anywhere on the island, however either one of the two town docks, or the Casino, are the most frequent put-ins. It may be possible to arrange a shuttle, depending on availability and timing, for a one way trip, such as Mullens Head to Town.
